53rd Annual Christmas Parade Entries Needed

The City of Clarksville and Montgomery County Government have partnered along with and Agero to host the 53rd Annual Christmas Parade. The parade will be a night-time, lighted Christmas parade and is scheduled for December 1, 2012 beginning at 5 p.m.  This year’s parade will feature both the Austin Peay State University Band and the Tennessee State University Band, dozens of businesses and organizations, as well as Santa Claus.

The Christmas parade is an event for local businesses, schools, and organizations to showcase their Christmas spirit. This year's theme is "Christmas Around the World”.  The parade route will begin on 8th Street on the campus of APSU. From 8th Street, floats will proceed to College and then to University and begin following the same route as years past going around Public Square, then around the Historic Courthouse and back to Franklin. From Franklin Street, turn onto 8th Street, back onto the Campus.

Parade entry forms are available at the city’s three community centers, the Parks and Recreation office, and online at mcgtn.org.  You can also log on to recpro.cityofclarksville.com to register. The cost to enter is $25 for all entries except churches and civic groups. All entries must also be accompanied by an unwrapped new toy, non-perishable food items, or grocery store gift cards valued at $25. These will be collected the day of the parade.  Church and civic groups need only donate the donation valued at $25 for entry. Deadline to enter is November 29.

All toys, non-perishable food items, and gift cards will be collected during parade check-in, on December 1, and will be distributed among local charities.
